Three of the ten have a plan that stays free. The other seven start with a trial, and when the trial ends, the plan is paid. A trial tests whether software works. A free plan lets you run a small coaching business on it, indefinitely, and decide to pay because you grew rather than because a clock ran out.
Evobody's first paid plan is not the cheapest. It is $69 a month for any number of clients, where the others' first paid plans run from $10 to $39 a month, each for a set number of clients. Prices at 5, 20 and 50 clients are on personal trainer software compared.
Evobody's free plan
Evobody is free for a coach's first five active clients, for as long as they like, with no card and every coaching feature included, and payment is only asked for when a sixth client is switched on. There is no time limit and no feature cut down for it. A coach can also add and set up more than five clients, a whole roster of forty if that is what they have, and only five need to be switched on to use the app.
It is the same product the paid plans run: programming and repeating programs, a food database of about 2.6 million foods with photo recognition, check-ins with the built-in screen recorder, habits, the community, the five ranks, and GPS run tracking, live on a map in the iPhone app (in beta).
Evo SI is the one thing priced separately. SI stands for Super Intelligence, previously known as Artificial Intelligence. Every client's first ten Evo SI questions are free, on any plan, including this one. After that, Evo SI needs a paid plan, and it is $3 a month for each client the coach switches it on for. It is optional: switched off for a client, it is hidden from their app and costs nothing. Past five clients, the Coach plan is $69 a month for as many clients as you have. The full detail is in does Evobody have a free plan.
No add-ons, now or ever. Other coaching apps charge extra for add-ons. We never will: every coaching feature is on every plan, everything we build next comes in too, and you never pay for our progress.
Everfit's free Starter plan
In Everfit's words, Starter is "Ideal for new coaches getting started with online training. Manage up to 5 clients and access core tools to launch your business." It is marked "Forever Free", and "Train 5 clients for free" comes with "No credit card required", per its pricing page, 8 October 2026.
Its Starter plan lists a custom exercise library of "1000+ exercises", a workout builder, metrics and progress photos, tasks with automated reminders, inbox messaging, and its client and coach apps for iOS and Android.
Habit coaching, forms and questionnaires "to check-in and engage your clients", the food journal and macros tracking, basic meal plans and the advanced program builder are listed on Pro, from $19 a month for 5 clients, then priced by client count. Everfit's Starter is the closest free plan to Evobody's, five clients either way; habits, check-ins, food logging and meal plans are in Evobody's free plan, and on Everfit they start on Pro.
ABC Trainerize's free Basic plan
Trainerize's Basic plan reads "Coach your first client. Number of client seats included: 1", and it is free. Its free plan includes a "Mobile app for iOS and Android", "Workout programs and delivery", "Basic in-app messaging features" and "Habit and lifestyle coaching", per its pricing page, 8 October 2026.
In its own answer to whether Trainerize has a free plan: "Trainerize offers a permanent free plan that allows you to coach one client at no cost, with no credit card required. The free plan includes the mobile app, workout programming, basic nutrition tracking, and in-app messaging and never expires."
Its add-ons, such as payments, video coaching and advanced nutrition coaching, are marked "Not Available on the Free plan". Trainerize also offers a 30 day trial, "30 days free with unlimited clients. No credit card required", and at the end of it, in its words, "your account automatically reverts to the free plan (1 coaching client, no credit card charged)". Its next step is Grow, $10 a month for 2 clients, and Pro starts at $25 a month for 5.
The seven that start with a trial
Each in its own words, from its own pricing page, 8 October 2026, in alphabetical order:
- CoachRx: "Start your 14-day commitment free trial." Then $29 a month for 1 to 5 clients, $79 for 6 to 50 and $199 for 51 to 150, plus its own 2% of client payments taken through it.
- Hevy Coach: "we have a 30 day free trial for all plans, with no credit card required." Then $25 a month for 1 to 10 clients, and its clients use the Hevy app free.
- HubFit: "Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial." Then Standard, $39 a month for up to 50 clients, with "No commitment, cancel anytime".
- Kahunas: "Start your 14 day free trial." Then Essentials, $35 a month or $315 a year for up to 25 clients, and its founder adds his own promise to refund a coach who is not satisfied after three months.
- My PT Hub: "Start your 30-day free trial today. No hidden fees. No card details required." Then Starter, $25 a month for 3 clients, or Premium, $59 a month for unlimited clients.
- PT Distinction: "Start your 1-month free trial", and "Cancel at any time in your first month and pay nothing." Then Basic, $19.90 a month for 3 clients, with extra clients "free for 1 month and $6.00 per month after that".
- TrueCoach: "Try out everything TrueCoach has to offer with a 14-Day Free Trial! No credit card required." Then Starter, $29.98 a month for up to 5 active clients.
A free plan or a free trial: what to weigh
How many clients you have now
A free plan for one client, like Trainerize's Basic, is a way to try a platform with one real client. A free plan for five, like Evobody's or Everfit's Starter, holds a small roster for as long as it stays small. A trial holds as many as the trial allows, for 14 days to a month.
What the free plan leaves out
Read the list, not the price. Everfit's Starter lists no habits, check-in forms, food journal or meal plans; they are on Pro. Trainerize's add-ons are not available on its free plan. Evobody's free plan is the same product its paid plans run, and Evo SI is priced on its own, with ten free questions for every client.
What happens at the limit
On Evobody, a sixth client is added and waits for a place, everything built for them is kept, and choosing a plan switches them on. Everfit's Pro is priced by client count from $19 a month for 5. Trainerize's next steps are Grow for 2 clients and Pro from 5. Whichever you choose, check the price at the client count you expect to reach, not the one you start with.
Whether a card is needed
None of the three free plans asks for one: Evobody asks for nothing until a sixth client is switched on, Everfit says "No credit card required", and Trainerize says its free plan comes "with no credit card required". Among the trials, Hevy Coach, My PT Hub and TrueCoach each say no card is needed to start.
Questions about free coaching software
Is there free personal trainer software?
Yes. Of the ten platforms compared here, three have a plan that stays free: ABC Trainerize's Basic for one client, Evobody for five active clients, and Everfit's Starter for up to five clients, each per its own pricing page, 8 October 2026. The other seven start with a free trial of 14 days to a month.
Is Everfit free?
Everfit's Starter plan is free for up to 5 clients and marked "Forever Free". It lists an exercise library, a workout builder, metrics and progress photos, tasks, messaging and its apps. Habit coaching, forms and questionnaires, the food journal and meal plans start on Pro, from $19 a month for 5 clients.
Is Trainerize free?
ABC Trainerize's Basic plan is free for one client and, in its words, never expires. It includes the mobile app, workout programs, basic in-app messaging and habit and lifestyle coaching. Its add-ons, such as payments and video coaching, are not available on the free plan.
What does Evobody's free plan include?
Every coaching feature, for your first five active clients, with no card and no time limit: programming, the food database, check-ins with the built-in screen recorder, habits, the community, the five ranks and GPS run tracking. Every client's first ten Evo SI questions are free, and Evo SI after that needs a paid plan.
Which coaching apps have a free trial instead of a free plan?
Of the ten here, CoachRx, HubFit, Kahunas and TrueCoach start with 14 days, PT Distinction with a month, and Hevy Coach and My PT Hub with 30 days, per their own pricing pages, 8 October 2026. Trainerize also has a 30 day trial with unlimited clients, after which an account goes back to its free plan for one client.
Can I run a coaching business on a free plan?
A small one, yes. A free plan has no end date, so a coach can keep coaching on it: five active clients on Evobody or on Everfit's Starter, one on Trainerize's Basic. A trial ends, and then the plan is paid; a free plan does not end.
