The six, ranked
Evobody
Built around the app your client opens. Everything PT Distinction leaves to the coach side, this puts in the client's hand.

Whole
Five ranks, each with its own badge.
When the gym is busy, the client is not stuck. The coach sets the recommended schedule and the client never has to touch it, and when the day has gone sideways they pull an extra session from the on-demand library, sorted by split and level, without anything breaking.
Evo SI sits in every client's pocket. (SI stands for Super Intelligence, previously known as Artificial Intelligence.) They photograph the menu at the restaurant they are sitting in and ask what they can eat, photograph the fridge and find out what they can make, ask how training went this month and hear which lifts went up, or log a meal by describing it and then correct it by saying "that was a bun, not a roll." Evo SI is told that client's own allergy and diet rules with every question. It proposes, the client confirms, and it never overrules you. It works for you too, trained on your philosophy and methods, set up in the app.
Something to keep coming back for. Five ranks, Start through to Whole, earned week by week against the client's own plan, milestones for streaks from a week to a year and sessions from ten to five hundred, and a weekly Pace Setters board, all of it posting itself into a community of your own clients.
Progress photos with a count-in, each tagged front, side or back. Runs and rides tracked live on a GPS map in the iPhone app (in beta), with WHOOP, Polar, Oura, Withings and Apple Health connected. And a screen recorder built into the check-in, so you reply by talking over the client's own dashboard with your camera in the corner instead of paying for Loom.
- Best for
- Coaches who like PT Distinction's coach software and need the client half to match it.
- Price
- Free for 5 clients, no time limit. $69 a month for unlimited, $99 on Studio, which opens later, with your own branding. Evo SI is optional, $3 a month for each client using it, and switched off for a client it is hidden from their app and costs nothing. On Studio, Evo SI is free with your own AI API key. No term, no cut of client payments.
- The catch
- The newest platform here, with no decade of coach-side templates behind it. Coaches ask, it gets built, it ships to everybody, and the price does not move.

ABC Trainerize
If the client app is why you are leaving, this is the one with the numbers behind it: rated 4.9 by nearly seventy thousand people, against 4.18 for PT Distinction's. Clients can swap exercises, move their own workouts, and the wearable support is the widest in the category, which fixes the Android gap outright.
What it costs is the trade. $135 for Pro 50, $45 for Advanced Nutrition Coaching and $25 for the Business add-on comes to $205 a month, against PT Distinction's $89.90, and the AI that drafts check-in replies is FitMetrics, an add-on from $6 a client a month. Their own status page records eleven incidents affecting the Trainerize apps since October 2025, nine major or critical, so reliability is not a solved problem there either.
- Best for
- Coaches whose clients complained about the app and who need wide wearable support.
- Price
- $205 a month at 50 clients with nutrition and the Business add-on. FitMetrics, its AI, is priced on its own, from $6 a client a month.
- The catch
- More than double PT Distinction's bill, steep tier jumps, and the community timeline is trainer only.

Everfit
A modern client app, a real free plan holding five clients, and forums, leaderboards and challenges from the Pro tier up. If the missing community is what is driving you, this is one of the closest of the established options.
The catch is the shape of the bill, which is the opposite of PT Distinction's. Automation is an add-on from $29 a month, client payments from $9, meal plans and recipe books from $39, and the plan underneath is priced per client, so it climbs as you grow. Fifty clients on Everfit's Pro plan with all three start at $199 a month.
"What annoys me the most is the numerous add-ons that you have to pay for, which significantly increase the overall cost."
- Best for
- Coaches who want a modern client app and something social, and can live with add-ons.
- Price
- From $199 a month at 50 clients with Autoflow, Payments and Meal Plans, per Everfit's pricing page, 8 October 2026. Free for 5 clients.
- The catch
- Twice PT Distinction's bill, priced per client, and the forums are closed to your own roster so a small one stays quiet.

My PT Hub
Nutrition and habit tracking on every plan, real check-ins, and a Workouts AI that takes plain language rather than keywords, which is fresher than PT Distinction's 2024 builder. And less money: $59 a month, plus its Check-Ins AI at $12 a month, read 8 October 2026.
Two things to know. Their own help centre on a missed week: "If a client misses a Check-In... they will not be able to complete it, they will need to wait for the next Check-In to open." That is a step backwards from the missed session detection PT Distinction shipped in 2026. And annual billing "paid monthly" is a twelve month commitment, where PT Distinction has no term at all.
- Best for
- Coaches who want nutrition included.
- Price
- $59 a month on Premium, month to month, or $52 a month on the twelve month plan, and Check-Ins AI is $12 a month more, per My PT Hub's pricing page, 8 October 2026.
- The catch
- No ranks, and you give up a freedom you currently have.

CoachRx
Built out of OPEX Fitness, with assessment depth and wearable support better than PT Distinction's, and a check-in dashboard that flags clients who have missed two sessions in a row. Coaches rate it 5.0 on Capterra.
It is well down this list because of the two things you are already leaving over. Its client app is rated 3.65 on the App Store and 3.43 on Google Play, worse than PT Distinction's 4.18. And it adds 2% of its own on top of normal card processing on every payment a client makes you, which their help centre documents and their pricing page does not mention, where PT Distinction takes nothing.
- Best for
- Assessment led coaching with heavy wearable use, where clients pay you outside the platform.
- Price
- $79 a month for 6 to 50 clients, plus 2% of everything collected, so about $279 at fifty clients.
- The catch
- A worse rated client app than the one you are leaving, no community, and a cut of your revenue.

TrueCoach
Well liked, 4.8 on Capterra across 838 reviews with not one single star among them, and a client app rated 4.86, well above PT Distinction's 4.18. On the specific complaint that brought you here it is a real improvement.
Everything else points the other way. TrueCoach's card processing fee is a flat 5% fee per transaction, from their own help centre, while their pricing page answers "Are there any extra fees?" with "Nope, what you see is what you get." That comes on top of a $165 plan at fifty clients, where PT Distinction is $89.90 for fifty. There is also no check-in feature and no AI in the product at all.
- Best for
- A small roster that pays you outside the platform.
- Price
- $165 a month for 50 clients, plus a flat 5% card processing fee on every client payment taken through it.
- The catch
- Seven times the bill, no AI, no community, no real check-in object, and no recording inside the app.

What a coach with fifty clients, each paying $200 a month, actually pays, and how the client app is rated by the clients themselves. Month to month, 23 September 2026; Trainerize, FitMetrics, Everfit, My PT Hub and PT Distinction, 8 October 2026.
Evo SI is the one thing not inside the plan price, and it is optional. On Coach it is $3 a month for each client who has it switched on, and switched off for a client, it is hidden from their app and costs nothing. On Studio, which opens later, Evo SI is free with your own AI API key. PT Distinction's three AI tools are in the plan price, and all three build things for you. The nearest equivalent anyone sells is Trainerize's FitMetrics, in its own words on 8 October 2026: "The Starter plan is $6/client with a 1-client minimum and the Scale plan is $10/client with a 50-client minimum."
PT Distinction is the third cheapest here and, to be fair to them, fairly priced: no transaction fee, no annual lock in, no minimum term. The argument is not about their invoice.
No add-ons, now or ever. Other coaching apps charge extra for add-ons. We never will: every coaching feature is on every plan, everything we build next comes in too, and you never pay for our progress.
Who answers your clients' questions about the app
Your clients will have questions about the app. On Evobody they ask from inside it, any hour, and we answer, so you are not the help desk for software you did not build, and anything about their training or food still comes to you. TrueCoach and CoachRx help clients directly too. Of the seven platforms here, Evobody is the only one that publishes 24/7 support for your clients. How client support works.
| Platform | 24/7 support for your clients |
|---|---|
| Evobody | Yes, from inside the app, on every plan |
| CoachRx | No. They do help clients directly, in "normal business hours", and aim to reply within 24 to 48 hours. |
| PT Distinction | No hours published. Their plans promise "Same day support". |
| TrueCoach | No hours published. They do help clients directly, by email. |
| Everfit | No hours published for clients. Their help centre gives none. Their "24/7 Support Team" is on the Enterprise plan only. |
| My PT Hub | No hours published. Their pricing page gives none. |
| ABC Trainerize | No. Their help section for clients, "Clients of Trainers", sends them back to you. |
From each company's own help centre and pricing pages, checked 23 September 2026.
Why coaches leave PT Distinction
Let us be straight about this one. Coaches rate PT Distinction 4.9 on Capterra across 446 reviews with no one star reviews at all, which almost nothing in software manages. They ship, too: missed session detection landed in 2026, and their own page puts the thinking well, "Follow up before they go quiet, not after." The reasons people leave are all on the other side of the relationship.
The app your clients hold. It sits at 4.18 on the App Store against 4.9 for the coach software, and the reviews explain the gap.
"At least a handful if not half a dozen times throughout my work out, the loading wheel appears for well over a minute... if you leave the app to go to a different one and then return, it will often refresh back to the homepage, which causes you to lose your place while logging the workout."
Your client does not review your software. They just stop logging.
When the squat rack is taken. Clients can move a workout to another day if you switch that on. What they cannot do is swap an exercise. This is from a coach who gave them four stars and meant it kindly:
"My one and only disappointment, and it's a super important one in my opinion, is that there is no way to substitute or adapt workouts on the go. I work in a busy commercial gym where workouts need to be adapted depending on availability of equipment or even just how the client feels. Unfortunately you're left unable to record different machines or exercises you do. Most of your competitors have this feature and it's a game changer."
- The AI stopped moving in 2024. Their AI Program Builder launched in August 2024, the meal planner in February 2024 and the assistant in January 2024. The only AI added since is a food label scanner, and all of it is aimed at you rather than at your client.
- Nothing keeps a client coming back. No community feed, no ranks, no badges, no points, no streaks.
- Android clients are thin on wearables. Their direct integrations are Fitbit and MyZone. There is no Google Fit or Health Connect, so an Android client has those two and nothing else.
How we compared these
Most lists of PT Distinction alternatives are affiliate pages, and you can tell because none of the claims on them have a link behind them. Here is the method for this one.
- Every price comes from the company's own pricing page, month to month, read on 23 September 2026, and Trainerize's, FitMetrics', Everfit's and My PT Hub's again on 8 October 2026. Annual figures are never mixed with monthly ones.
- Every capability claim comes from the company's own help centre, documentation or release notes, not from a feature grid.
- Every review quote links to the review site it is on, with the reviewer's name and the date. Client app ratings are read from the App Store and Google Play on the same day, because a rating written by a client answers a different question from one written by a coach.
- The fifty client figure assumes each client pays you $200 a month, which is what makes a percentage fee comparable to a subscription.
- Where a competitor is better, it says so. PT Distinction's 4.9 from 446 reviews with no one star reviews is the best coach-side record in this category, and their pricing is the fairest of the established platforms. This page was corrected once already, because an earlier version claimed they do not flag a missed check-in. They do, since 2026.
Evobody is our own product and this page argues for it. Everything above is checkable, which is the only reason to trust any of it.
Moving off PT Distinction
You get dedicated support for the move. Your client list comes across in one go, and Evobody's team helps you bring over your programs, plans and documents rather than rebuild them from nothing. There is no term to wait out, since PT Distinction does not impose one. The full detail is in the switching guide.
Questions coaches ask before switching
Will my clients stop losing their place mid workout?
On Evobody, workouts log offline and sync when signal comes back, so leaving the app and returning to it does not cost anybody their session. That is the specific failure the recent App Store reviews describe.
Which alternative lets a client swap an exercise?
Trainerize and Everfit both allow it. On Evobody the coach sets the recommended schedule and the client never has to touch it, and when the gym is busy they pull an extra session from the on-demand library instead, sorted by split and level.
Will I have to pay a transaction fee somewhere else?
On TrueCoach and CoachRx. TrueCoach's card processing fee is a flat 5% per transaction, and CoachRx adds 2% of its own on top of card processing. Evobody, Everfit, Trainerize and My PT Hub take nothing, the same as PT Distinction.
Is there a free alternative to PT Distinction?
Evobody is free for up to five active clients, no time limit and no card. Everfit's free plan is the same shape. Trainerize's holds one client. PT Distinction itself runs a one month trial rather than a free plan.
What is the best PT Distinction alternative in 2026?
Evobody. It is $69 a month flat for unlimited clients against PT Distinction's $89.90 for 50, and it adds what PT Distinction does not have at any price: an AI assistant inside the client's own app, a community with five ranks to climb, progress photos with a count-in, live GPS tracking on iPhone (in beta), an on-demand workout library for when the gym is busy, and a built-in screen recorder for check-in video replies.
Is PT Distinction good software for coaches?
On the coach side, yes. PT Distinction rates 4.9 on Capterra across 446 reviews with no one star reviews at all, its pricing carries no transaction fee and no minimum term, and they shipped missed session detection in 2026. The weaker half is the app clients hold, which sits at 4.18 on the App Store, where recent reviews describe the app losing its place mid workout and reloading to the home screen.
Can a client swap an exercise in PT Distinction?
No. Clients can move a scheduled workout to another day if the coach allows it, but they cannot substitute an exercise or record a different machine when equipment is busy. A 2026 reviewer who otherwise rated it four stars called this the one important gap and noted most competitors have it. Evobody clients pull an alternative session from an on-demand library instead, sorted by split and level.
Which PT Distinction alternative has the best rated client app?
By rating count, ABC Trainerize, whose client app is rated 4.9 by nearly seventy thousand people, against 4.18 for PT Distinction's. TrueCoach's client app sits at 4.86 and CoachRx's at 3.65. Evobody logs workouts offline and syncs when signal returns, which is the specific failure recent PT Distinction reviews describe.
Does PT Distinction have AI for clients?
No. PT Distinction's AI Program Builder launched in August 2024, its meal planner in February 2024 and its assistant in January 2024, and the only AI added since is a food label scanner. All three are tools that help the coach build things. None of them is in the client's pocket. Evobody's Evo SI sits in every client's app, reading their plan, targets and numbers, and it is told their allergy and diet rules with every question.
Comparing something else?
Evobody is the future of online fitness coaching software. Everything it does is on features, and the full head to head is on Evobody vs PT Distinction.
