Evobody vs PT Distinction.

Let's be straight about this one. PT Distinction's coach software is well liked, it rates 4.9 from 446 reviews with no one star reviews at all, and their pricing is fairer than most of this category: no transaction fee, no annual lock-in. The argument is about the app your clients hold, and about an AI that stopped moving two years ago.

The half your clients see

Coaches rate PT Distinction 4.9 on Capterra. Their client app sits at 4.18, and the reviews explain the gap. This one is from five days before this page was written:

"At least a handful if not half a dozen times throughout my work out, the loading wheel appears for well over a minute... if you leave the app to go to a different one and then return, it will often refresh back to the homepage, which causes you to lose your place while logging the workout."

Your client does not review your software. They just stop logging.

When the squat rack is taken

Clients on PT Distinction can move a workout to another day, if you switch that on. What they cannot do is swap an exercise. This is from a coach who gave them four stars and meant it kindly:

"My one and only disappointment, and it's a super important one in my opinion, is that there is no way to substitute or adapt workouts on the go. I work in a busy commercial gym where workouts need to be adapted depending on availability of equipment or even just how the client feels. Unfortunately you're left unable to record different machines or exercises you do. Most of your competitors have this feature and it's a game changer."

In Evobody the coach sets the recommended schedule and the client never has to touch it, and when the gym is busy or the day has gone sideways they can pull an extra session from the on-demand library, sorted by split and level, without anything breaking.

What your clients get

A restaurant menu, read against this client's allergies and what is left of their day.
A coach's private community: clients share finished workouts with each other, with kudos and comments.
GPS run tracking: a finished outdoor run with its route, splits and personal bests. Recording runs in the iPhone app, in beta.

Evo SI, in every client's app

SI stands for Super Intelligence, previously known as Artificial Intelligence.

  • Photograph the menu at the restaurant they are sitting in and ask what they can eat.
  • Photograph the inside of the fridge and see what is in there they can have.
  • Ask how training went this month and hear which lifts went up.
  • Log a meal by describing it, then correct it by saying "that was a bun, not a roll."
  • Type in their weight, blood pressure or blood sugar and it goes straight into their record.

It reads their plan, their targets, their phase and their numbers, and it is told that client's own allergy and diet rules with every question. It proposes, the client confirms, and it never overrules their coach.

It works for you too, trained on your philosophy and methods, set up in the app. And it is optional: switched off for a client, it is hidden from their app.

PT Distinction has AI too, and it is worth being precise about it. Their AI Program Builder launched in August 2024, their meal planner in February 2024 and their assistant in January 2024. Since then the only new AI is a food label scanner. All three are tools that help you build things. None of them is in your client's pocket answering a question at eight in the evening.

Motivation, which they do not have

PT Distinction has no client community feed, no ranks, no badges, no points and no streaks. Clients climb five ranks in Evobody, Start through to Whole, earned week by week against their own plan, collect milestones for streaks from a week to a year and sessions from ten to five hundred, and land on the weekly Pace Setters board when they show up for what you set them. They share a community with your other clients, and no other coach can see your client list or reach your clients.

Check-ins that tell you who skipped, and why

PT Distinction builds check-ins out of forms and questionnaires, fired by automated workflows, and answers land in an activity feed. There is no check-in object as such: you write the questionnaire and schedule it yourself. They did add missed-session detection in 2026, and credit where it is due, their own page puts it well: "Follow up before they go quiet, not after."

Evobody treats the check-in itself as the thing being tracked. Each client's weeks are listed on their page, answered or skipped, and you are told when a check-in comes in or is skipped, with the client's reason. You reply by writing, or by recording a video over the client's own dashboard with your camera in the corner. That recorder is built in, so the Loom or ScreenPal subscription most coaches pay for is one more thing you stop paying for. PT Distinction has no screen recording.

Progress photos, and what clients wear

The client picks their angles and presses Start for each one. A voice names the pose, the app counts them in from six and takes the photo by itself, tagged front, side or back. On PT Distinction a progress photo is a manual upload, and they document no guided capture of any kind.

On wearables they do well on iPhone, with a real Apple Watch app and an Apple Health feed. Their direct integrations are Fitbit and MyZone. Whoop, Oura and Garmin are not among them, and there is no Google Fit or Health Connect, so an Android client is down to Fitbit and MyZone. Evobody connects to WHOOP, Polar, Oura, Withings and Apple Health, and tracks a run live on a GPS map in the iPhone app (in beta).

Support for your clients, day or night

When a client has a question about the app, they ask from inside it, any hour, and Evobody answers. You are not the help desk for software you did not build, and anything about their training or food still comes to you. Of the seven platforms we compare, Evobody is the only one that publishes 24/7 support for your clients. See all seven.

What it costs

Credit where it is due: PT Distinction's pricing is among the fairest in this category. Master is $89.90 a month for fifty clients, then $1.60 for each one after that. No annual contract, no minimum term, and no percentage taken out of what your clients pay you, which is more than TrueCoach, CoachRx or Trainerize can say.

Evobody is $69 a month on the Coach plan for unlimited clients, and free for your first five. Lower at 5 clients and at 50, and it includes the ranks, the screen recorder, live GPS and progress photos with a count-in that PT Distinction does not have at any price, with Evo SI at $3 a month for each client who has it switched on. It is optional: switched off for a client, it is hidden from their app and costs nothing.

No add-ons, now or ever. Other coaching apps charge extra for add-ons. We never will: every coaching feature is on every plan, everything we build next comes in too, and you never pay for our progress.

Moving to Evobody

You get dedicated support for the move. Your client list comes across in one go, and Evobody's team helps you bring over your programs, plans and documents rather than rebuild them from nothing. The full detail is in the switching guide.

Questions coaches ask

Is PT Distinction good software for coaches?

On the coach side, yes. PT Distinction rates 4.9 on Capterra across 446 reviews with no one star reviews at all, its pricing carries no transaction fee and no minimum term, and it ships regularly. The weaker half is the app clients hold, where recent App Store reviews describe the app losing its place mid workout and reloading to the home screen.

Can a client swap an exercise in PT Distinction?

No. Clients can move a scheduled workout to another day if the coach allows it, but they cannot substitute an exercise or record a different machine when equipment is busy. A 2026 reviewer who otherwise rated it four stars called this out as the one important gap, noting most competitors have it. Evobody clients pull an alternative session from an on-demand library instead.

How much does PT Distinction cost for 50 clients?

PT Distinction's Master plan is $89.90 a month and covers 50 clients, with extra clients at $1.60 each per month after that. There is no annual lock-in and no percentage taken from client payments, which is fairer than most of this category. Evobody is $69 a month flat for unlimited clients, or $99 on Studio, which opens later, with your own branding.

What is the best PT Distinction alternative for coaches?

Evobody. It is $69 a month flat for unlimited clients, and adds what PT Distinction does not have: an AI assistant inside the client's app rather than a program builder for the coach, a community with ranked progression, progress photos with a count-in, live GPS tracking on iPhone (in beta), an on-demand workout library so a client can train when the gym is busy, and a built-in screen recorder for check-in video replies.

Can I move my clients from PT Distinction to Evobody?

Yes. Paste the client list you export from PT Distinction and they are all added in one go, then you invite each one when you are ready. Evobody's team helps you bring over your programs, plans and documents, and every new coach can book a 30 minute walkthrough call.
